To display this window, go to the layout and theme tab
on the ribbon bar, click the drop-down arrow under the
windows button and select show properties window. Similarly to hide the properties
window use the same procedure - or click the cross at the top right of the properties
window.

The properties window works in unison with the novel explorer.
You will ordinarily have both the novel explorer and the properties window visible
at the same time. It is unlikely that you will have the properties window open on
its own.
As soon as you select a different chapter, section, event, place etc. in the novel
explorer the properties window displays all of the relevant properties for your
selection. You will recognize the available properties from the wizards that you
used to create the various entities of your novel. Each step of an 'add wizard'
- such as the add chapter wizard - becomes a tab on
the properties panel. Hence the 5-stage add chapter wizard has five tabs as shown
in the screenshot below. The properties window allows you to modify the information
you created when adding a chapter, event, etc.

The properties displayed for each kind of component of your novel are detailed below:
