The novel explorer, which sits at the left hand side of the workspace by default,
allows you to select the current chapter or diagram that you want to work on. In
addition, it enables you to select any of the events, chapters, places or things
you have added to your novel.
Whenever you select a chapter or diagram in the novel explorer, the
properties window shows the properties for the chapter or diagram. In addition
the chapter or diagram is automatically opened for editing. See
working with the word processor or the diagram editor
for more information.
Whenever you select an event, character, place or thing in the novel explorer, the
properties window shows the properties of the selected item, so that you amend them.
You should get used to right-clicking on the novel explorer to bring up the
context menu. The context menu for the novel explorer includes important
commands for adding and removing chapters, diagrams, events and characters from
your novel.
You have a choice between two different kinds of novel explorer. The first, the
classic novel explorer, will be familiar to
you if you have used MyNovel in the past. The second, the
expert novel explorer, is also available to you if you have used MyNovel
for some time and / or you are technically-minded. The expert novel explorer is
particularly useful if you are creating a work with numerous places, settings and
so on.
Important: You can switch between the two novel explorer modes by clicking
either the classic novel explorer button or the expert novel explorer button on
the layout and theme tab.
