Installing MyNovel from the CD
To install MyNovel from the CD, insert the CD into your CD drive. The installation
will first check whether you have Microsoft .NET 3.5 installed on your computer
before bringing up the installation menu. For more information about the Microsoft.NET
framework see below.
Click the install MyNovel button to install MyNovel onto your computer. The steps
of the installation wizard are detailed below. Once the installation
is complete, click the exit button. A shortcut to MyNovel will have been added to
your desktop which will allow you to run MyNovel.
If the CD does not automatically start, use Windows Explorer to find your CD drive.
Then double-click on setup.exe to start the installation.
Installing the download version of MyNovel
If you have downloaded a ZIP file you first need to unzip it by double-clicking
on it. Double-click on setup.exe then follow the installation wizard
through. See below.
If you have downloaded a self-extracting install, you just need to double-click
on it to install MyNovel.
In both of these cases the setup wizard will first check to see that you have the
Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 installed on your computer. If you don't the installation
will either download it for you from the Microsoft Website. For more information

MyNovel requires the Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5
When the MyNovel installation wizard first runs it will determine
whether or not you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed. If you already
have the .NET Framework installed you can just skip ahead to following the installation
wizard through. If you don't have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed, the
wizard will ask you to install it before proceeding. The .NET Framework is a necessary
prerequisite for MyNovel. It is the underlying foundations upon which MyNovel is
built - a bit like Java which you may already be familiar with.
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is pre-installed on Windows 7.
On other operating systems such as Windows XP, you will generally
only have it installed if you regularly visit Windows Update. (Visiting Windows Update is a good idea
for your online security!)
