Add a diagram or corkboard
|
This wizard takes you through the steps to add a new diagram or corkboard. Once
your diagram or corkboard has been added it will appear in the diagrams section
of your novel explorer. If you select the diagram
in the novel explorer, the properties window will contain
all of the information you enter into this wizard so that you can amend it later.
Your new diagram will always be appended to the bottom of the diagrams section of
the novel explorer. You can drag diagrams around in the novel explorer to reorder
them. If you are using the 'expert novel explorer'
you can also arrange your diagrams and corkboards into as many folders as you wish
in order for you to categorize them.
This is a one-step wizard
You should give your diagram a title. You can also add notes regarding this diagram.
Finally you should select the type of diagram you intend to create. There are three
options, listed below:
|
Diagram
|
A diagram to which you can add characters, places, events, things, text, images
and arrows. Relationships are automatically drawn on the diagram between related
entities.
|
|
Family tree
|
A diagram to which you can add characters, text, images and arrows. Relationships
between characters are automatically drawn on the diagram between related characters.
|
|
Corkboard
|
A 'diagram' to which you can add characters, places, events, things, text,
images and arrows. The background is drawn as a corkboard (the kind of board you
pin notes to in the real world.) Relationships between entities are not automatically
drawn. You can also automatically rearrange the diagram.
|
For more information see the diagram editor topic.
For more information on relationships, see the relationships
topic. Relationships are created in the add character,
add event, add place and add thing wizards and amended in the properties window
when any of these entities is selected in the novel explorer.
Once you have finished, click the finish button. Your diagram or corkboard
will be added to your novel and will be ready for you to edit. The diagram will
also be selected in the novel explorer, and therefore
it's properties will be shown in the properties window.
To delete a diagram or corkboard once you have added it, you need to select the
diagram or corkboard in the novel explorer then
right-click on it in the novel explorer to bring up the context menu. For more information
see the novel explorer topic.
