Planning a novel with MyNovel
When committing to writing a novel, some people like to jump right in and write
away until the small hours - with little knowledge about where the book is going
to take them well into the writing process. MyNovel will accommodate that kind of
writer very well. MyNovel includes a full word processor and will allow the writer
to jot down notes - either against characters, settings, or events or on
corkboards or spider diagrams. When the writer invents a character, the
character can be added to the manuscript as the writer goes along. Similarly settings,
events, and so on. Writing this way is a skill, a spontaneous way to go about it.
Other writers prefer much more structure than that and MyNovel can help in this
way too. There are professional writers who plan and those who don't, however there
will be less work revising and rewriting your novel if you plan in advance. We advocate
this method strongly for those who have not written a novel before - it is a large
undertaking after all, almost on par with building a house. Imagine building a house
with no plans! It could be done, but whether it would withstand the first storm
of winter, who knows? And, whether someone would dare to live in it, probably not!

their relationships, strengths, foibles, and family backgrounds.
- Through familiarity you will write consistently - reducing the need for rewrites.
- Just like planning in the real world, everything will fit together better. You will
be able to avoid inconsistency.
- You will be able to identify redundancy in your work more easily: parts of your
manuscript which aren't necessary to tell the whole story. In fact you probably
won't introduce redundancy in the first place!
- You'll save yourself an incredible amount of time!
